Gerhart has captured a record ARCA RE/MAX Series four wins at Daytona Int'l Speedway (2006, 2005, 2002, 1999). He also scored a victory at Talladega in 2001. All of his wins have come in cars owned and crew-chiefed by brother Billy Gerhart.
He also won four consecutive pole awards for the season openers at Daytona beginning in 2003. Additionally, he has won three poles at Talladega, one at Michigan and one at Winchester.
Gerhart returned to full-season racing in the ARCA RE/MAX Series in 2006, after running limited schedules since 2001. In 2000, Gerhart finished fifth in the final point standings.
In 1988, Gerhart was named the ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie of the year.
In addition to his ARCA RE/MAX experience, Gerhart has made 28 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup starts with a best finish of 17th in 1985.
