Nelson Piquet Jr. is a promising young talent in world motorsport. The youngest-ever winner of the prestigious British Formula 3 Championship, the Brazilian performed strongly in the 2006 GP2 Series championship, eventually finishing runner-up to Lewis Hamilton after a season-long battle.
After completing a year as test driver for the ING Renault F1 Team, he graduated to a race seat for 2008. Nelson made his race debut for the ING Renault F1 team in 2008 alongside Fernando Alonso. The young Brazilian impressed with his speed and grew in confidence as the team steadily improved during the course of the season. His five points scoring finishes, including a second-place podium finish at the German Grand Prix, helped the ING Renault F1 Team finish fourth in the constructors' championship.
