2007 marked Richardson's first year in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Racing 16 of 35 events that year, Richardson placed 46th in points standings, earning $324,160, at age 25. In 2008, he placed 45th in the series after racing 15 of 35 races.
Richardson started only 15 of the 35 races in 2009 Nationwide series, but placed his career high of 41st in the points standings.
