Todd Bodine, a native of Chemung, N.Y., the youngest of three racing brothers, is a chassis specialist who got his start in racing in Modifieds in Connecticut.
He got his start in racing working as a child at the family-owned Chemung Speedrome. At different times in his career he worked for the Buck Baker Driving School and as a fabricator for various race teams. Made his return to a full-time seat in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2001 and despite some promising runs battled bad luck and mechanical trouble on his way to an unfulfilling 29th in the point standings.
He finished second in the 1997 Truck Series standings after an intense battle with good friend Randy LaJoie. He finished third to LaJoie in 1996. He gained the first of 13 career Busch Series victories in only his 22nd start, at Dover, Del.
Bodine won his first Cup Bud Pole in 1997 in his hometown race at Watkins Glen International for Cicci-Welliver Racing.
In 2002, Bodine drove part-time in the Cup Series after Haas-Carter Motorsports struggled to find solid sponsorship for all 36 races. He scored four top-10 finishes in 24 starts and finished 38th in the Winston Cup standings.
In July 2005, Bodine returned behind the wheel of the No. 30 Germain Racing Toyota Truck after starting the year off with the Fiddleback Team. Bodine, who was 15th in the standings in mid-summer, climbed to finish third in the final standings after capturing 10 finishes of third or better, including three-straight wins at end the year.
In 2006 Bodine captured his first Cup Series Champinship while driving for Germain. Bodine ran second to Mark Martin at Daytona and California before defeating him at Atlanta Motor Speedway, The first of three victories. Bodnie was also the first to leads the points race for 21 consecutive races.
In 2007 Bodine finished fourth in points and tied Brendan Gaughan's record for four victories at Texas Motor Speedway. Bodine was was able to remain in the top five in the points standings the entire season.
Bodine finished third and fourth in the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Bodine won the season openers at Daytona both years and also won his fifth race at Texas Motor Speedway in 2009.
