IndyCar to Meet with Castroneves

IZOD IndyCar Series officials will meet with driver Helio Castroneves next week to further review his actions following the July 25 race in Edmonton.

Castroneves received a black flag for blocking during the closing laps of the Honda Edmonton Indy. Instead of taking the drive-thru pit lane penalty, he remained on the track to cross the finish line first.

Following the race, he was penalized 20 seconds, thereby being stripped of his win when the penalty placed him at the end of the lead lap in 10th.

After he got out of his car, Castroneves was irate for several minutes. During that time, he pushed an IndyCar security official and foul language was picked up by television cameras.

Any penalties will be announced after that meeting.
