Season-to-Date Driver Ratings

RCR teammates Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton and Clint Bowyer made some big strides in the power rankings after the NASCAR Cup Series' annual trip to Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Motor Racing Network's rankings are based on a combination of season-to-date loop data, season standings and staff selections by Jeff Wackerlin and Rachael West.

1. Kevin Harvick: Harvick is back at the top of the rankings after emerging from Indianapolis with a second-place finish. He narrowly missed victory lane after holding the lead late in the race and losing it to McMurrray when he was unable to hold him off in the last restart. Harvick did leave the weekend with an increased points lead in the standings, though. He heads to Pocono with a 184-point cushion. Earlier this summer, Harvick finished fourth at Pocono for his first top 10 since 2008. He has a 15.1 average finish at the track after 19 starts.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 95.4
Point Standing: First
Last Week's Ranking:
Third

2. Jeff Burton: Burton posted his third consecutive top-seven finish after he finished sixth at IMS. The top-10 finish was his fifth at the track in 17 starts and second-best career finish there. With his recent consistency, Burton has moved within 305 points of his teammate Harvick in the points. He'll hope to carry that consistency again at Pocono where he finished seventh earlier this summer. Unfortunately, in his last three late summer races at the Pennsylvania track, Burton hasn't been able to maintain top-10 finishes. He finished 21st in the last two races and 11th in 2007.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 102.2
Point Standing: Seventh
Last Week's Ranking: Fourth

3. Tony Stewart: Stewart was surprised to come out of the Brickyard 400 with a fifth-place finish after struggling with handling all weekend leading up to the race. The top-five result was his seventh top 10 in the last nine races this season and helped increase his lead on the 13th-place standing to 160 points. One of Stewart's recent top-10 finishes was a third at Pocono, where he'll return this weekend. He has finished in the top 10 in all three of his starts at the track with his new team including a win in 2009.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 88.6
Point Standing: Ninth
Last Week's Ranking: Sixth

4. Clint Bowyer: Bowyer is coming off two consecutive fourth-place finishes this season as the series heads into the final stretch to make the Chase. And with his Indianapolis fourth-place result, which equalled his best finish at the track, he managed to hold onto the 12th spot in the standings and increase his cushion on 13th to 62 points. Bowyer will look to be stronger in the Chase cutoff with this weekend's return to Pocono. He is coming off a ninth-place finish and has finished 12th or better in his last four starts at the track.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 90.5
Point Standing: 12th
Last Week's Ranking: Ninth

5. Kasey Kahne: Kahne dropped in the rankings after posting a 13th-place finish at IMS. The result was his worst in the last six races where he was running at the finish. But, it could've been worse if he hadn't managed to work his way into the top 15 from his 24th starting position. Kahne still holds down the 17th spot in the standings heading to Pocono. He has a 156-point deficit on making the Chase and is coming off a 27th-place finish at Pocono earlier this summer. But, Kahne is a previous winner at the track and has five top-10 finishes in 13 starts, with an average finish of 16.4.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 87.0
Point Standing: 17th
Last Week's Ranking: Second

6. Jeff Gordon: Gordon dropped in the rankings after suffering tire issues late in the race at IMS to finish 23rd. He had started eighth and ran most of the race in the top 15 before he shredded a tire with about 30 laps remaining. The finish was his first one outside the top five since Pocono earlier in the summer. Gordon finished 32nd there after crashing. That finish for Gordon was his worst at the track since 2006. He has only finished outside the top 15 in seven races at the track out of 35 starts.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 105.9
Point Standing: Second
Last Week's Ranking: First

7. Jamie McMurray: McMurray added a Brickyard 400 trophy to his Daytona 500 trophy this season after he was able to hold off Kevin Harvick in the closing laps at Indy and earn the fifth victory of his career. He became only the third driver to win both in the same season. The victory moved him up two spots in the standings but he's still 151 points out of the Chase. Despite his great success this season, McMurray didn't see any of it at Pocono earlier this summer when he finished 36th after crashing. He has only scored three top-10 finishes at the track in 15 starts.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 85.7
Point Standing: 16th
Last Week's Ranking: N/R

8. Greg Biffle: Biffle is back on the rankings after leading 38 laps en route to a third-place finish at Indianapolis. It's his first top-five finish this season since Bristol and his first top 10 in four races. Earlier this summer, Biffle posted a 28th-place result at Pocono, where he's only had one top-five and two top-10 finishes in 15 starts.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 85.6
Point Standing: 11th
Last Week's Ranking: N/R

9. Denny Hamlin: Hamlin managed to salvage a 15th-place finish in Indianapolis after falling a lap down from an overheating engine early in the race. His running position suffered from grass blocking the airflow which forced him to pit under green. With the result, though, he moved up one spot in the points to third. He sits 260 points out of the lead heading to Pocono, where he's won the last two races. Hamlin also won the first two Pocono races of his career and has compiled seven top-10 finishes in nine starts at the track.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 92.0
Point Standing: Third
Last Week's Ranking: Eighth

10. Jimmie Johnson: Johnson slipped in both the rankings and the points this week after slipping from a front-row start at Indy to a 22nd-place finish due to handling issue. It's his third consecutive finish outside the top 20 this season and caused him to be the only driver in the top 12 to lose a spot in the standings. Johnson may be able to turn things around at Pocono. In 17 starts there, he's won twice and has the second-best average finish of all active drivers (9.5). He's coming off a fifth-place finish earlier this summer and has finished 13th or better in his last six starts there.

Season-to-Date Driver Rating: 108.1
Point Standing: Fourth
Last Week's Ranking: Seventh
