CONCORD, N.C. - RAB Racing with Brack Maggard has named 2003 Camping World Truck Series champion Travis Kvapil as driver of its No. 09 Toyota for Friday's season-opening NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway.
Kvapil, 35, has nine wins, 50 top fives and 84 top-10 finishes in 142 Truck Series starts since 2001.
"It's a place I've come close to winning at in the past," Kvapil said of his return to Daytona. "(Team owner) Robby Benton has assembled a great group of guys and I'm optimistic that we can go down there and have a shot at winning the race."
In six series starts at "The World Center of Racing," Kvapil has three top-five finishes including back-to-back second-place finishes in 2003 and 2004.
"Travis won the first race for Toyota in the Camping World Truck Series back in 2004 and he's come close to putting a Tundra in the Winner's Circle at Daytona on a couple of occasions," Benton said. "We look forward to starting our Truck Series efforts on a strong note in 2012."
Motor Racing Network - "The Voice of NASCAR" - will have live coverage of Friday's NextEra Energy Resources 250 starting at 7:15 p.m. (EST). The race also will be streamed live at MotorRacingNetwork.com.
